The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a Transportation Planner to support the development and implementation of strategies for innovative transportation solutions related to transit and automated transportation systems, including economic development, sustainable development, transportation safety, rail and air quality initiatives. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting with the collection, compilation, and analysis of data related to advanced modes of transit, micro transit and transportation in system and corridor planning studies to support automated next-generation people mover and goods movement systems
- Working with supervisor to identify efficient automated transportation systems planning solutions for the North Central Texas region
- Assisting with the analysis of data for new and emerging transportation technologies
- Working with supervisor to conduct technical analyses related to safety, operations, and traffic and drafting results for supervisor for review
- Assisting with data collection, maintenance, mapping, and analysis of automated transportation systems planning activities
- Drafting presentations for supervisor review, with the opportunity to deliver presentations to committee members and /or the general public
- Drafting for supervisor review, correspondence, technical reports, and other documents
- Working with supervisor to update content for the automated transportation systems webpages
- Attending meetings, events, and workshops
Required Skills
- Good communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with team members, and present ideas
- Good critical thinking, problem-solving skills, analytical, and technical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing the quality of work
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative methods (e.g., transportation planning, city and regional planning, geography or a related area)
- One year or less of work-related experience

Starting Salary Range
Minimum of $47,618.00 - $57,141.60 per year
