What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Associate Parent Aide position at ND Health and Human Services?
Mountrail-McKenzie Human Service Zone - Stanley, ND Office
This position will:
- Enhance client household management and parenting skills.
- Meet with clients in their homes to assess parenting techniques, family interactions, household cleanliness and health hazards.
- Develop case specific parenting curriculums to meet the individual needs of the family.
- Increase the parent's understanding of normal ages and stages of child development and nurturing.
- Serve as an advocate for family empowerment and self-reliance.
- Provide emotional support and assist with developing self-esteem and self-confidence.
- Teach and model coping, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Provide education and guidance to parents in relation to household tasks, meal planning, budgeting, personal hygiene, time organization, communication and assessing community resources.
- Have knowledge of and assist families in connecting to community resources.
- Assist parents/families in becoming involved in activities designed to reduce isolation and establish support systems.
- Provide transportation and complete other duties as assigned. Assist parents with transportation to access resources or attend appointments that will help reduce the risk of future maltreatment or help them become self-reliant.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
A high school diploma or GED and two years of work experience providing direct care to special populations. Agency may designate education, training, or medical certification to substitute for one year of the work experience requirement.
