Burleigh County Human Service Zone - Eligibility Worker - Bismarck
Burleigh County Human Service Zone is seeking an Eligibility Worker for the Economic Assistance Team to provide the assessment and eligibility determination of applicants for a variety of programs by interpreting and applying complex state, federal, and county policies.
Eligibility Worker example of duties:
- Conduct interviews of applicants and recipients
- Process client applications, as applicable
- Establish electronic record
- Attend training and workshops
- Perform defined case changes, workflow functions, and/or determinations
- Interpret state, federal, and county policies
- Monitor program and policy updates
- Maintain working knowledge of laws, rules, policies, procedures, and other regulations
To succeed in this position, you must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong teamwork and collaboration abilities, and the capacity to make effective decisions in a dynamic and evolving environment with diverse populations. You will also need to be comfortable working with all types of software and database applications, with a willingness to learn new technology programs. Additionally, you will need to have a strong understanding of complex program policies and procedures.
Eligibility Worker I
Requires the minimum qualifications listed below for the "Eligibility Worker Technician" level, plus one year of work experience involving duties directly related to determining eligibility for human services economic assistance programs (including TANF, SNAP, Foster Care, Medicaid, or LIHEAP); or completion of the eligibility worker two-year associate degree program.
Eligibility Worker Technician
If unable to fill as an Eligibility Worker I, we will consider filling as an Eligibility Worker Technician underfill which requires a high school diploma or GED and one of the following:
- Completion of the eligibility worker one-year certificate program
- Completion of 90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours of a bachelor's degree program
- Three years of work experience involving processing of claims, loans, financial eligibility benefits, credit reviews, abstracts, taxes, housing assistance, or work experience in the clerical, accounting, bookkeeping, legal, financial, business, teaching, investments, financial planning, or computer/data processing fields
- Three years of any combination of education and experience listed above
