HHS Vocational Rehabilitation - Grand Forks, ND - Program Coordinator
The North Dakota Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Vocational Rehabilitation division is hiring a Program Coordinator for the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) to serve Grand Forks and the surrounding counties.
While this position is classified as temporary, it is considered long-term. This position is part time with an estimated 20-hour work week. Schedule is flexible within the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday and may be set by the Program Coordinator based on the needs of the position. Although infrequent, evening travel may be required.
As our Program Coordinator , you will serve as front-line staff in preparing participants for success in a community service and work-based job training program for individuals aged 55 and older who qualify
You will recruit participants and establish host agencies (training sites for participants) through community outreach and interviews. You will lead the participants through the application process to ensure understanding and completeness. You will use your community connections to build rapport and maintain contact with community partners and participants through the various stages of the program.
To succeed in this position , you should be comfortable engaging with others and enjoy building new and existing relationships, have a growth-mindset and be comfortable interacting with participants and community partners through various medium (in person, phone, email, etc.). You should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partners while working independently and within a team. You must be able to convey program information accurately, respectfully, and thoroughly to participants and community partners.
To be considered for this position , you must have an associate degree in Human Services, Counseling or related fields and experience with establishing and maintaining relationships. Experience working with employment programs, conducting outreach, and/or human services is a plus. Two years' experience in a Human Service field may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Location : This position will be assigned to Grand Forks and Traill Counties. Travel within the counties served is key to the success of the program. In certain instances, you may be required to meet with individuals virtually and will need to be able to communicate via video or phone conferencing. This position requires some work to be completed remotely within a home office and therefore requires access to internet services.
About SCSEP: The North Dakota Department of Health & Human Services Vocational Rehabilitation section administers the Senior Community Service Employment Program. SCSEP is a short-term, work training program to be used as a steppingstone to employment with higher wages, benefits, and opportunities for advancement for eligible participants. While participants learn new skills, build confidence, and become job-ready in the community service work-based assignment under the supervision of a host agency, SCSEP pays the participant's wages. The host agency where participants are assigned benefit greatly from the service they provide. The ultimate goal of the program is to assist participants to transition to employment not aided or promoted with public money and for host agencies to increase their ability to deliver essential services through the assistance of the participants assigned to them
