Position Title: Social Service Coordinator (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Property Manager and TCA Board
Starting Salary: $16.00-$18.00

Summary Of Functions:
To organize, supervise, and instruct various recreational and leisure activities to enhance the social and mental well‐being of the residents, and to assist the residents in all social activities planned and organized by the TCA Resident’s Association.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Basic Functions
A. To determine social and recreational needs of the residents. Develop plans to serve these needs and present these plans to the Property Manager for approval.
B. Recruit and appoint volunteers and professionals to conduct programs and perform services.
C. Evaluate the results of programs and the performance of program staff and take appropriate action to ensure continued success.
D. Organize, instruct, and participate in tenant activities, to enhance a tension‐free coexistence and pleasant atmosphere for the tenants at the property.
E. Prepare and post the program and activities calendar, and community newsletter.
F. Interact with tenants to support, counsel, and assist them with their needs.
G. Submit petty cash reconciliations, and travel and expense forms for reimbursement.
H. Shop for supplies for tenant activities and office.
I. Oversee programs and activities and ensure that all resources necessary for their successful completion are available when needed.
J. Work closely with the Residents Association to ensure the success of these programs and activities. Work with residents to form Resident Associations if none exist.
K. Maintain communication with outside services (e.g., Area Agency on Aging, etc.) to keep informed of changes, details, and services being offered.
L. Provide assistance to residents in securing outside service agency assistance to provide for their personal, physical, social, emotional, and financial needs.
M. Coordinate the appointments of outside service agencies to meet with groups of residents (one‐to‐one appointments are to be arranged by the agency and the individual resident).
N. Maintain progress reports on tenants detailing their need for services – type of service needed, contacts given, date of contact, follow‐up need – these reports shall be reviewed by the Property Manager and maintained in the tenant file.
O. Meet with each resident at time of move to inform them of activities and services available to them at TCA and within the community.
P. Develop and Maintain a welcome package for residents.
Q. Undertake other duties assigned by the Property Manager, the Regional Manager, and the TCA Board.R. In the event of an emergency, be “on call” 24 hours via cell phone
S. Work with Property Manager, Regional Manager, TCA Board of Directors and Officers, residents, outside vendors and service providers, etc.

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
Preferred knowledge and experience including:
A. Demonstrated past experience of social service and group activity coordination preferred.
B. Good planning and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and complete assignments within established timeframes.
C. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with others.
D. Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal direct supervision.
E. Computer literate, with experience in windows‐based systems.
F. Ability to operate office equipment such as copier, fax, computer, typewriter, calculator, and telephone.
Demonstrated Communication
A. Oral – Ability to effectively listen, ask questions, and respond appropriately to staff, residents, visitors, etc.
B. Reading – Review and understand social service agency materials, read books and manuals related to office functions, respond to written instruction from Property Manager, Regional Manager, etc.
C. Writing – Maintain required files, prepare letters, reports and memos, etc.
Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking and common sense to a variety of practical situations and accurately follow standardized procedures and instructions, and plan events. Needs ability to think rationally beyond a specific set of instructions and make adjustments for deviations to plans.
Physical requirements
Must be able to perform the physical functions of the position, which may include, but are not limited to: ability to walk property, including multiple flights of stairs, to interact with residents during activities, deliver resident communications, etc. Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds to facilitate moving furniture and lifting supplies as needed.
Driving/Traveling
Must have a valid, current PA Driver’s license without restrictions beyond corrective lenses.
Must maintain a PA-registered and insured personal vehicle to allow availability for “on-call” status and occasional expedient travel to TCA at a moment’s notice.
