Job Overview :

We are a preeminent boutique law firm seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate or Partner to join our distinguished corporate and real estate practice. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of experience practicing law in the areas of corporate law and real estate. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and advise and represent clients in high-profile corporate and real estate transactions. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in corporate law and real estate matters, with a bonus if they have some litigation experience. We are looking for a strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As an Associate or Partner, you will play an integral role in managing client relationships, leading transactions, and providing strategic advice, and business generation and client development.

Key Responsibilities :

Advise clients on a broad range of corporate matters, including business sales, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance, private equity transactions, business structuring, and corporate governance and other transactional matters. Draft and negotiate professional service agreements, complex contracts, agreements, asset purchase agreements and corporate documents.

  • Provide legal counsel on real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, sales, financings and development projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and legal agreements including purchase and sale contracts and lease agreements.
  • Represent clients in due diligence processes, including risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Manage and oversee transactional processes, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy in all documentation and procedures.
  • Lead client meetings, communications and presentations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates, providing guidance on legal matters and professional development.
  • Collaborate with other practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions for clients.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to corporate and real estate matters.
  • Manage client relationships, develop new business, and contribute to the growth of the firm's practice.

Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing exceptional legal counsel and achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their business objectives and deliver tailored legal solutions.
  • Effectively manage and oversee client matters, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
  • Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor junior associates and support staff, providing guidance on legal matters and professional development.
  • Lead legal teams in transactional or litigation matters, delegating responsibilities and ensuring high-quality work product.
  • Contribute to the firm's overall strategy and growth in these practice areas.
  • Business Development

  • Participate in marketing and business development activities, including networking events, client presentations, and proposal writing.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across other practice areas to cross-sell services and expand client relationships.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois
  • 7 years of experience in corporate and real estate law, with a demonstrated track record in handling complex matters.
  • Experience in M&A, joint ventures and / or private equity transactions.
  • Strong understanding of real estate development, leasing, financing and acquisitions.
  • Litigation experience is ideal but not required.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and client-focused mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, exercise professional discretion and independent judgment.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires superb attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships and generate new business.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior associates and work collaboratively in a team setting.
