Position Overview:
The Medical Billing/Accounts Receivable Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medical claims, billing, and account reconciliation. This role requires a professional with a strong background in medical billing, insurance verification, and collections, as well as a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medical Billing: Accurately submit insurance claims and patient bills while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and payer requirements.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts, ensuring timely collection of payments.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, including pre-authorizations for procedures.
- Payment Posting: Post payments received from insurance companies and patients to appropriate accounts.
- Audits & Reports: Perform regular audits of accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance, and generate reports for management as needed.
- Customer Service: Communicate with patients regarding account balances, payment plans, and insurance coverage questions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the front office and administrative team to streamline billing and account processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and insurance processes.
- Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and account reconciliation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on professionalism and customer service.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in plastic surgery or orthopedic billing is a plus.
- Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CPB) is highly desirable.
