The State of Nebraska's Department of Health and Human Services, Division is looking for an Office Specialist within the Medicaid Claims NFOCUS Billing Team.

What you will do as an Office Specialist for the Medicaid Claims NFOCUS Billing Team:

  • Verify and process NFOCUS paper billing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Audit provider claims to ensure compliance with Medicaid billing guidelines and regulations.
  • Draft and send overbilling letters to providers to address discrepancies.
  • Adjust claims based on findings from audits and provider communications.
  • Assist providers with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) claim submissions and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicaid billing processes and NFOCUS system updates.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
  • Provide customer service to Medicaid providers, addressing their inquiries and assisting with claim issues.
  • Ensure that all claims are processed in compliance with Medicaid policies and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all billing and provider-related information.
  • Exhibit a sharp attention to detail and strong proofreading skills to ensure the accuracy of documents and reports.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements/ Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency. OR Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of customer service experience, experience with Medicaid Billing, familiarity with NFOCUS and Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) and Microsoft Office including Excel.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of secretarial and clerical support tasks, including recordkeeping, database management, and preparing reports. They will be familiar with customer service practices and the policies and procedures related to their work. Knowledge of specialized terminology and processes specific to their role is important, as well as proficiency in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and composition for business and specialized writing. The candidate should also be skilled in using word processing and data software for managing documents.

The candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally. They will need to summarize technical data and research into easy-to-understand reports and proofread documents for accuracy. The ability to follow instructions, apply relevant policies, and carry out tasks effectively is essential. They should be able to take action based on decisions made by others to meet goals and priorities. The candidate must also be able to learn about the organization’s structure, mission, and activities and apply policies and procedures to their work.
