DIRECT REPORTS: Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians
Principal Duties
- Establish goals for the pharmacy in conjunction with the Leadership
- Monitor progress towards these goals on a consistent basis, and report results to the Leadership
- Develop and implement plans for the pharmacy growth initiatives.
- Advise supervisor in the finances and budget of the pharmacy.
- Oversee the pharmacy services of the pharmacy, including monitoring internal pharmacy processes and operations.
- Hold clinicians accountable to the organization for decisions affecting consumers.
- Conduct meetings with members of the pharmacy staff at regular intervals.
- Maintain ongoing liaison with all pharmacy staff members in order to obtain their cooperation toward the achievement of the goals of the pharmacy.
- Consult with practitioners in the field as needed to improve organization processes and patient outcomes.
- Ensure ongoing pharmacy compliance with all laws and regulations; ensure that the pharmacy meets or exceeds accreditation standards; and implement ‘’best practices’’ in department activities.
- Delegate authority as necessary to ensure that all responsibilities of this position and pharmacy operations are fulfilled in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform pharmacist duties (including HD) as needed (see HD/Pharmacist job description)
- Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies. Initiate appropriate actions on reports and recommendations provided by authorized inspection agencies.
- Participate in the pharmacy’s Performance Improvement program.
- Participate in membership activities of professional and industry organizations.
- Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
- Participate in training /?education programs provided by the pharmacy.
- Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities and license requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION/SKILLS:
- Ability to organize and plan the activities of subordinates, and to delegate appropriately.
- Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
- Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.
- Pharmacy Degree and State Licensure.
- Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
- Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.?
