Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Access Coordinator is responsible for managing and monitoring internal referral work queues, scheduling, and coordinating appointments between patients and providers within the Behavioral Health department. This role involves processing incoming referrals, verifying patient information, scheduling appointments, managing provider schedules, and responding to inquiries. The position requires the ability to work collaboratively across departments, maintain patient confidentiality, and provide excellent customer service while meeting department goals. The Behavioral Health Access Coordinator ensures that patients receive timely care while ensuring the smooth operation of scheduling and referral systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor internal referral work queues for Behavioral Health clinicians and psychiatric providers.
- Process all incoming referrals, verifying patient demographics, insurance, and account information before scheduling appointments.
- Inform patients of potential fees, co-payments, and required documents.
- Provide patients with information and direct them to appropriate resources, including Patient Services, Patient Advocates, and other departments.
- Ensure that provider schedules are filled to 100% capacity daily.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments as per provider or patient requests.
- Block out provider schedules for approved time off and manage rescheduling due to provider illness or absence.
- Mail appointment reminder letters and make confirmation calls for new patients.
- Handle incoming patient calls and emails regarding appointment inquiries and scheduling changes.

- Perform any other duties as authorized by management or as needed for the smooth operation of the department.
