What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Pharmacy position at Neighborhood Health Association?
Neighborhood Health Association (NHA), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is the largest community health center system in Northwest Ohio. We are currently looking for a Director of Pharmacy Operations to work in our pharmacy Full-Time. Hours are Monday through Friday, no evenings, weekends or holidays.
General Function:
Manages the daily operation of the Pharmacy for efficiency and effectiveness. Provide accurate medication distribution services and offer patients counseling on their Medication needs. Manages the flow of prescription from the time they are presented by the customer to the point where it is returned to the customer completely filled.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· In addition to acting as a Pharmacist in the pharmacy, the Director manages the daily operations of the Pharmacy in filling prescriptions accurately and timely, including managing other Pharmacists and Pharmacy Tech staff. This includes scheduling, quality improvement initiatives and inventory management.
- Provides management oversight of the 340B program, including implementing policies, procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards.
· Serves patients by preparing medications, giving pharmaceutical information to Providers and monitoring patient drug therapies.
· Understand each patient’s mediation history, and make recommendations to Provider as the situation requires.
· Collaborate with Providers to discuss potential incompatibility issues with patient prescriptions.
· Educate patients on their prescriptions, answers questions, addresses concerns and offers information to assist the patient’s understanding of how to properly take their prescribed medications.
· Confirms payment stats of patients.
· When prescription is received, check for address, patient's name, data, medication, quantity, strength, directions, refills, if any, Dr's name, address, phone number, DEA number and any caution strips that are needed to alert the customer as to its use or keep.
· Recognize the potential drug interactions when two or more medications are dispensed.
· Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries and charges.
· Keep a tight control on inventory and scheduled drugs.
· Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration.
· A good administrator and coordinator between providers, technicians, patients, and the general public.
· Make sure that the professional atmosphere of the Pharmacy as well as the organization has tight security and is always maintained.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Registered Pharmacist with the State of Ohio, BS in Pharmacy required, Doctor of Pharmacy highly preferred.
- Excellent business acumen with experience in Pharmacy Operations management.
- Pleasant personality, ability to communicate well to the patient and treat all customers with dignity and respect.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
This position is Full-Time Monday – Friday, no evenings, weekends or holidays.
