As a Director of Accounting on the Accounting team, a typical day for you will include :
- Directs the responsibilities and deliverables of the General Accounting team, leading the overall function
- Manages the managers on the team, to include interviewing, hiring, developing, assigning, delegating and following through
- Plans and coordinates the monthly closing process including routine balance sheet reconciliation reviews, employing a closing checklist and related control activities
- Directly reviews and / or prepares complex and subjective accounting calculations
- Reviews journal entries and account reconciliations
- Reviews and approves monthly brand-level and consolidated financial statements
- Ensures team development and accountability; builds skill sets and ensures adequate cross training, efficient deployment of resources and continued professional growth and development.
- Manages the performance of the team by conducting and reviewing periodic employee performance evaluations, creating and implementing professional development plans, when necessary
- Prioritizes and effectively accomplishes multiple tasks within established timeframes, often through the work of subordinates
- Leads the design, implementation and communication of the General Accounting roadmap to achieve operational excellence, organizational alignment and drives continuous improvement as well as an effective internal control structure
