Job Overview
Due to a recent retirement, we are seeking an energetic and skilled Garden Center Manager. This position is responsible for the overall operation of our Garden Center. Previous garden center experience and knowledge or college coursework in horticulture or a similar program are preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, and a positive, upbeat attitude. Exceptional communication skills between customers and co-workers is a must. This position has the option of being full-time year-round or full-time seasonal. General Responsibilities: Responsible for all phases of the garden center including sales, overseeing and training employees, quality control and plant maintenance, ordering inventory and all aspects of customer service. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervision and training of garden center personnel, including scheduling and hiring
- Sales and customer service
- Assist customers with selections and questions, providing expert knowledge
- Ordering inventory, pricing and merchandising
- Unloading and checking in plant material
- Daily plant care including pruning, watering, etc
- Create signage and displays
- Operating forklift
- Maintain retail yard, pallet yard and garden center cleanliness
- Assist in planning and hosting garden center events throughout the season
- Assist Marketing and Advertising Coordinator with development of advertisements and social media
