We are looking for a skilled Accountant/Bookkeeper to maintain client financial records, including monthly bookkeeping, payroll, and sales tax. This includes working closely with our accounting team to generate monthly financial reports, meet compliance requirements at the state and federal levels. Ultimately, responsibilities are to accurately record all day-to-day financial transactions of client accounts to meet external compliance standards with IRS tax law. Ideally, we are looking for a candidate with experience who will eventually step in to lead a team of bookkeepers and work with senior level accountants to ensure tax compliance throughout each year.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple client accounts
- Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Bring the books to the trial balance stage
- Perform partial checks of the posting process
- Enter data, maintain records and financial statements
- Reconcile accounts monthly
- Balancing payroll
- Make necessary federal and state tax deposits, and complete the annual tax forms (Forms 941, RT-6, 1099, 1096, W-2, W-3, Sales Tax Report)
- Analyze and calculate sales tax
- Translate financial statements into tax returns for IRS reporting purposes
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proven bookkeeping experience
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
- Proficiency in Office Products
- Bilingual candidate preferred (English/Spanish)
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
- High degree of accuracy, analysis and attention to detail
Requirements
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- 3 years relevant experience
- Must have flexible schedule during tax season and be able to work half days on Saturdays from February 1st to April 15th.
- QuickBooks Proficient
- CRM experience preferred
- Tax and external bookkeeping reporting knowledge preferred
- Microsoft Office Proficient
