Mission and Vision: The mission of Nelson Mandela Elementary is to provide quality instruction that demonstrates ALL scholars can learn and develop academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. Nelson Mandela Elementary is committed to maximizing the educational success of all scholars and bridging learning and achievement gaps.
Purpose: The role of a Substitute Teacher is to ensure that scholars receive quality instruction in the absence of their regular teacher. At Mandela, all classrooms are supported by a full-time paraprofessional that is familiar with and will lead classroom procedures and routines. The substitute collaborates with the classroom paraprofessional to ensure scholars have an engaging and impactful school day. Team members at Mandela believe in holistic education, in which scholars not only learn math, reading, and writing but also skills that teach them to be the best versions of themselves.
Duties:Committed to the mission of Nelson Mandela Elementary Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and SEL to scholars in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by NME Exudes enthusiasm, optimism, resilience, and positive energy Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. Identifies scholar needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping scholars solve health, social, emotional, and learning issues.
Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelors degree or Early Childhood endorsement from an accredited university Nebraska teaching certificate or CDA Knowledge of child developmentspecifically of physical, emotional, and developmental patterns. A team player with experience working in a collaborative environment. Ability to listen to and communicate with parents and see parents as a resource. Possesses conflict resolution skills. Uses strong organizational skills to meet classroom and individual needs. Is capable of working with small and large classroom groups. Experience in an elementary or early childhood school environment. Open to new strategies, ideas, and methods to meet the needs of all children.
Local Substitutes: Nebraska Dept. of Education Local Substitute Permit Requirements: Completion of 60 semester credit hours of college coursework, Completion of a Professional Education Course, Completion of the Human Relations Training Requirement, Written request from the Superintendent for issuance of the certificate for a specific School District
Payment:$185 Paid daily prior to departure
