Your New Role
As an engineer, you will assist clients with refrigeration engineering services and also manage projects from the business development stages through to the development of construction documents and construction administration. Your technical expertise ensures a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, practices, and standards, which is crucial for overseeing projects throughout their entire life cycle. You will lead refrigeration engineering services, coordinating across internal and external disciplines to deliver high-quality projects. Your role involves effective communication, management, and leadership skills, as you will be concurrently managing multiple projects, including the company’s most complex ones, ensuring their successful execution and delivery.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Project Leadership: Leading refrigeration projects to ensure design, budget, and schedule exceed client expectations.
- Project Management: Overseeing multiple, complex projects with significant scope.
- Scheduling: Developing project timelines, ensuring final product delivery, and reporting progress.
- Coordination: Liaising with teams to clarify project scopes and deliverables, ensuring clear communication with clients and team members.
- Design Work: Participating in design work, applying expertise to develop efficient refrigeration systems.
- Documentation: Completing project documentation and closure tasks to company standards.
- Technical Standards: Enhancing technical standards, design guidelines, and procedures, and communicating updates.
- Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs): Conducting QARs to ensure all project aspects meet the highest quality standards before finalization.
- Mentorship: Guiding team members for growth and sharing best practices.
- Business Development: Assisting leadership in business development, maintaining key client contact, and contributing to marketing and proposal efforts to win new projects. Keeping client information current in the company's CRM system.
- Industry Engagement: Engaging with key individuals from client, consultant, and vendor companies, and representing the company at industry events.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertaking other duties as necessary for successful client project delivery and company operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
- 5 years’ experience working as a refrigeration engineer, 2 of which must be in project management.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Minnesota is preferred.
- Proficient in the design and analysis of complex refrigeration systems, including Distribution Centers, Ammonia Refrigeration systems, and CO2 Refrigeration systems, with a solid understanding and application of engineering principals, practices, and concepts is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, and current mechanical engineering software (e.g., IESVE). Working knowledge of Smartsheet, and Deltek Ajera software is a plus. Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
- Proven personnel management skills, leadership qualities and effective mentoring capabilities. Strong and effective decision-making, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project skills, including planning and scheduling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work and self-motivate.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Candidate shall demonstrate proper documentation to lawfully work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
