What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at NEPTUNE PLATFORM BUYER LLC?
Overview: As a cost accountant for Merrill: A Keel Company, you will be responsible for liaising between accounting and quoting as it relates to cost, such as analyzing cost data collected to estimate costs for current or future projects/programs. In this role, you will provide cost consulting to other departments - proposals/quoting, project management, APEX - within the company as needed.
Job Functions:
- Develops proper controls over the costing system as defined in established procedures and specific work instructions
- Contract review, including alterations
- Review proposal costing/pricing prior to submission
- Ensure adherence to documented processes and procedures through internal audit functions
- Quote system oversight and enhancements related to costing and/or other related accounting functions
- Intermittent project costing
- Support of other departments within the organization as related to cost and accounting
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance/Business with an emphasis on accounting or related field
- Experience with government contracts and/or DCMA cost and pricing proposal standards preferred
- Three or more years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Business and management principles
- Experience in ERP systems and financial costing software
- Strong computer and technological skills especially those specific to accounting
- Must have excellent listening and critical thinking skills, as well as strong communication and presentation skills to a variety of audiences
