Job Title: Financial Planning & Accounting Specialist
Employment Type: Contract (8 Months, could extend)
Location: On site in Lenexa, KS
Position Overview
We seek a proactive Finance & Operations Liaison to serve as the key point of contact between finance, supply chain, inventory, purchasing, CSR, shipping, receiving, and digital technology teams. In this role, you will ensure accurate data flow, troubleshoot discrepancies, and align financial processes with operational workflows. The ideal candidate is skilled in cost analysis, journal entries, and cross-functional collaboration—ready to drive efficiency and uphold quality standards.
Core Responsibilities:
Cross-Functional Liaison
- Act as the primary point of contact (POC) between finance, supply chain, purchasing, and other operational teams to ensure seamless data flow and process realignment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot JDE system transactions to confirm that financial data is recorded accurately (e.g., inventory movement, work order management, invoicing, and cost allocation).
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with QA standards.
- Participate in Tier meetings to address cost-related concerns, highlighting labor costs, material variances, and work order discrepancies.
Finance Oversight & Cost Management
- Improve and streamline processes between cross-functional teams, focusing on accurate cost capture and allocations.
- Manage and resolve discrepancies in financial reports, journal entries, and inventory transfers.
- Conduct spot audits on journal entries, cycle counts, and work order closings within the MRO finance team.
- Oversee the flow of costs into appropriate accounts, collaborating with sister sites to update and communicate budgetary changes.
- Perform in-depth analysis and reconciliations to ensure transactions align with financial records.
- Provide backup support for payroll, PTO, and timekeeping reconciliation as needed.
Financial Reporting & Closeout
- Assist with journal entries for month-end close and generate cost-related metrics for reporting.
- Maintain data accuracy in cost allocations to support timely and precise financial close processes.
- Coordinate with sister sites, sometimes during flexible hours, to ensure effective communication and ERP system updates.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Solid background in finance, payroll, or cost analysis
- MRO operational experience preferred (but not required)
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in JDE, Excel, and standard financial reporting tools
- Strong understanding of journal entries, financial auditing (SOX compliance), and work order reconciliation
Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple departments
- Self-starter with the ability to troubleshoot financial discrepancies independently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours
