Summary
Handles scrap, recyclable, non-hazardous, and hazardous waste generated from the process of building automobiles. The responsibilities of this position include contributing to Environmental Management System (EMS) performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in the protection of the environment and reduction of pollution from the activities within the organization.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED; and one to three months related experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Training as defined in 40402AAA, Training Requirements Matrix. GMI, Inc. unique training may be obtained during first three months of employment. Additional training will be provided as a part of Continuous Improvement.
Language Skills
Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Follows safety guidelines and procedures
- Participates in team meetings and training
- Cleans work area according to 5's standards
- Unloads new waste containers to be used in plant
- Unloads waste containers in storage area according to waste type
- Transfers waste rags and paper from drums to Gaylord boxes
- Crushes cans and drums in drum crusher
- Punctures aerosol cans.
- Picks-up, boxes, and stores used light bulbs
- Runs daily route to pick up full drums waste containers and/or empty raw material drums for storage and disposal
- Weighs waste containers before putting into storage
- Assists in loading waste containers for shipment
- Assists in other areas as time permits
- Other duties may be assigned
