What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Supervisor - Union Org position at NessCampbell Crane + Rigging?
Overview:
We are looking for an experienced hands-on Payroll Supervisor to support the goals and effective functioning of the Payroll and Accounting teams.
Success in the role is defined as ensuring timely and accurate processing and payment of multi-state union and non-union payrolls, effective and proactive resolution to employee and management inquiries and disputes, and thorough, deadline-driven reporting and communication both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provides support, guidance, and direction to Payroll Specialists, including by performing payroll entry. Monitors and drives productivity, finds opportunities for improvements in efficiency, and suggests for management review processes and systems that reduce manual efforts.
· Develops Payroll personnel through trainings and learning experiences that foster individual growth.
· Manages the accurate and timely processing, reporting and payment of employee benefits and perks.
· Ensures the proper coding of payroll liabilities and expenses, proper period posting, and adherence to GAAP and best practices, to further the Company’s overall goals.
· Reconciles payrolls and works with the Controller and outside agencies to resolve discrepancies.
· Participates in the Certified Payroll process as requested by management, including processing forms and information as required, and may be called upon to supervise the Certified Payroll effort.
· Ensures strict adherence to company policy and chain of command in the procurement and exercise of proper authorizations and information sharing, including internal approvals and matters of legal compliance.
· Contributes to Cash Flow effectiveness by providing reports and conducting analysis of patterns to the Controller and CFO.
· Meets or exceeds Union expectations in the timely and accurate reporting of monthly benefits and dues per Union contracts.
· Prepares additional reports and completes projects to further the overall goals of the accounting function as needed.
· Maintains a continuous improvement mindset, with the goal of improving efficiency and providing superior information to the business.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Finance, or related field, and/or Payroll certification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
· Experience with payroll in union shops, especially in the construction industry.
· Experience with complex data systems, aptitude for new and uncommon software, and proficiency with common data tools such as Excel.
· Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
