To fulfill this mission, we are seeking a competent Personal Care Assistant who will assist our clients in a way that ensures their needs are met, prioritizes patient safety, and maintains organizational integrity. The Personal Care Assistant will demonstrate our dedication to providing high-quality care by exceeding our client's expectations.
Responsibilities:
- To go “above and beyond” your everyday job responsibilities, ensuring our clients receive a high-quality experience, in addition to high-quality care
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and is competent to perform tasks assigned by the supervisor
- Personal care: Assist with all activities of daily living (ex. bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, etc.)
- Meal preparation
- Support clients who have difficulty moving on their own
- Light housekeeping: Perform tasks like laundry, washing dishes, and vacuuming
- Transport clients to appointments, visit family and run errands if appropriate
- Assist with reminding the client to take their medication on time
- Provide general companionship and emotional support to our clients
- Immediately report any changes in a client's condition, behavior, or appearance to a supervisor or case coordinator
- Should have a strong desire to help and assist those in our community
- Familiarity with the client’s plan of care.
- Assist in structuring and organizing the client’s care plan
- Ability to communicate with variable levels of staff to ensure quality care is provided to all clients and tailored to their specific needs
- Provides an environment that promotes respect for the client’s privacy and property
- Promotes positive, supportive, respectful communication to the client, family, and agency personnel
- Provides an environment that promotes respect for the client’s privacy and property
- Practices and implement infection control and safety measures while reporting all hazards and accidents immediately to the appropriate leadership
- Communicate pertinent information if a client is hospitalized, missing, or has changed address or phone number
- Attend agency in-service training as necessary
- Must be a team player
Skills and Qualifications
- Attend orientation and obtain PCA certification if not previously acquired
- CPR/BLS certification
- Proven ability to have a passion for helping others improve their health and wellness
- Must maintain a professional appearance and personal hygiene
- Must agree to and pass a criminal history check
- Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods if required
- Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
