Position Overview
NestEd Center for Development is seeking a dedicated Case Manager to provide consistent and long-term support to families navigating the complexities of special education systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in special education rights and laws, with a strong commitment to building enduring relationships with families to ensure continuity of care and advocacy. This position requires a minimum five-year commitment to maintain a consistent and supportive experience for the families we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a long-term advocate and guide for families, ensuring they receive consistent and expert support throughout their child’s educational journey.
- Provide in-depth guidance on special education rights and laws, including IDEA, Section 504, and ADA, helping families navigate the educational system with confidence.
- Represent and support families during IEP, 504 Plan, and other school-related meetings, advocating for services tailored to each child’s needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate evaluation findings into actionable educational and therapeutic recommendations.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with families, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure clear and collaborative communication.
- Monitor and follow up on the implementation of educational plans to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Stay informed on changes in special education laws, policies, and best practices, sharing relevant updates with clients and the NestEd team.
- Create and deliver resources, workshops, and training sessions for families and professionals to empower them in understanding and advocating for their rights.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of case activities, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of special education laws, including IDEA, Section 504, and ADA.
- Minimum of three years of experience in case management, advocacy, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building long-term, trusting relationships.
- Commitment to a minimum five-year role to provide families with continuity and consistent care.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and families experiencing trauma or complex disabilities.
- Familiarity with the Neurodevelopmental Model and its application in educational systems or interest in Dr. Bruce Perry's work.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
