Title : Biologist I (Assistant)

Location : West Point, PA 19486

Duration : 12 months

Rate : $28.65/hr on W2 without any benefits

Responsibilities:

The Department of Infectious Disease and Vaccines at Merck Research Laboratories in West Point, PA is seeking a contractor to join a group of researchers dedicated to the discovery of novel anti-viral drugs and vaccines. The role will be primarily responsible for developing and performing in vitro assays in support of vaccine discovery.

The successful candidate will:

• Optimize and execute novel in vitro assays to evaluate vaccine candidates

• Properly document and report experimental findings and assay protocols, and comply with all laboratory safety requirements

• Function effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment

• Be adept at learning new skills/techniques

Qualifications:

Required experience and skills:

• BA/BS in biology or related discipline and two years of experience post-graduation, or MA/MS in biology or related discipline

• Experience in tissue culture, molecular biology, or in vitro assays

• Strong collaborative skills and attention to detail

Position Qualifications: (please provide below)

Education Minimum Requirement: BA/BS in biology, biochemistry, virology, or related discipline.

Years of experience: 1-2 year

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Design, development, and execution of in vitro assays

• Industry experience or MS

• Experience working with RNA or high throughput assay platform
