Job Title: Training Program Manager

About the Job

The primary objective of this position is managing the execution of the technical training programs, projects, and activities of the association. This role interfaces with the technical leaders of the association and industry, including the Training Committee, CTD (Continuing Technical Development Credits) Review Committee, and Conference Committees (training topics and presentations). This position will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of all activities relating to association training programs and content, CTD initiatives, and the development and management of the association’s national guideline for standards apprenticeship program.

NETA, the International Electrical Testing Association, is on a mission to lead the electrical power systems industry through education, standards development, accreditation of third-party testing companies, and certification of electrical testing technicians. Put simply, this means that we literally wrote the book(s) on how to navigate medium and high-voltage power systems safely and we work tirelessly to educate industry professionals on the importance of these documents. We take the practice of safety and equipment reliability seriously, so we also accredit testing companies that remain divested of competing interests and certify their technicians based on their unique skillsets and field experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the association’s technical training programs, initiatives and work groups in the development of technical training content, products and resources, ensuring all relevant standards, policies and procedures are followed, and all committee guidance incorporated.
  • Oversee the association’s learning management system (LMS) to maximize utilization by organizing both structure and content to ensure all training materials and products are current, relevant and accessible. This will include direct engagement in the oversight and execution of the association’s online Bookstore for the distribution of training products. Provide detailed reporting for training related activities and metrics. Manage the execution and delivery of the association’s National Guideline Standards (NGS) for Apprenticeship program to ensure consistent training and quality across industry stakeholders and training platforms in the development of future electrical testing technicians. This includes developing an in-depth understanding of existing training programs and initiatives by NETA Accredited Companies, NETA training partners and association sponsors, and secondary education providers with the goal of facilitating and/or complementing external training programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and managing the association’s technical training and apprenticeship program budgets.
  • Serve as the liaison and represent the association, its policies, and values to all stakeholders at committee meetings, working groups, and other relevant meetings specific to this role. Serve as Staff Liaison to the Training Committee to support the committee chair in the development and execution of Training Committee directives and initiatives.
  • Management of new and existing technical training relationships, assets, and resources.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to ensure the appropriate and timely coordination of the production, promotion, and marketing of the technical training assets and needs.
  • Manage and respond to incoming technical training inquiries and responses.
  • Recruit, manage, and maintain relationships with related association committees, and technical training subject matter experts.
  • Technical expert and administrator of the associations learning management system (LMS).
  • Coordinate Technical Training, CTD Review, and Apprenticeship program volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or education preferred; Associate’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in association program management or in an organizational development capacity; or combination of education and/or work experience relevant for this role.
  • Ability to identify program goals, establish critical paths, and deliverables and report progress effectively to association leaders as needed.
  • Experience creating new programs through implementation, i.e., an apprenticeship, technical training programs, etc.
  • Experienced with project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Able to provide creative insights and recommendations for advancing the role with a focus on future growth.
  • Experience working with volunteer committees within a membership organization is highly desirable.
  • Able to establish meaningful professional rapport with Board Members, Committee Chairs, and Association Members to help further the Association’s initiatives.
  • Strong self-starter and proven team player in high achievement-oriented environment.
  • Advanced skills in MS365 Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and LMS platforms.
  • Experienced in instructional design methods used to evaluate the quality of technical training programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel required for conferences and other events on behalf of the association.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical requirements are consistent with working in an office environment – sitting for long periods of time, walking throughout the office, able to go up and down stairs without an elevator, able to lift and move 35 pounds, repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands, and fingers, and operating office equipment,
  • When attending PowerTest, or any other event on behalf of the association, standing and walking for an extended period will be required over multiple days, along with moving, packing and unpacking heavy boxes, and any other physical requirement to put on a large event like a conference.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
