Embedded Software Engineer – Automotive Body Controls
Location: Greensboro, NC

About the Role:
Netgroup Engineering is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support our client, Volvo Group, in the Cab Engineering department. This role focuses on the release of hardware (HW) and software (SW) design solutions for electronic components related to vehicle functions, body controls, and body builder-specific functions. You will collaborate with global technology development teams, Tier-1 suppliers, and integration teams to ensure seamless functionality and resolution of technical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- HW & SW Design Solutions:
- Release design solutions for electronic components used in vehicle functions, body controls, and body builder-specific functions for North American truck products.
- Track platform development progress with global technology teams and participate in discussions with Tier-1 suppliers.
- Project Coordination:
- Follow Level 4 time plan activities and milestones.
- Collaborate with component installation teams for Body ECUs as needed.
- Work with the truck integration team to resolve component-related issues.
- Defect Management:
- Respond to defect reports and follow the defect resolution process.
- Software Configuration & Testing:
- Document software configurations for various variant combinations and follow the Embedded Software (ESW) release process.
- Use Canalyzer tools to analyze log files and perform troubleshooting.
- Download software using factory, engineering, and service tools.
- Perform minimum smoke tests on the bench before delivering to integration teams.
- Agile Development:
- Participate in PI planning, break down features into stories and tasks, and follow up through sprints.
- On-Truck Debugging:
- Perform debugging and troubleshooting directly on trucks when necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3 years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Experience with Body ECUs and vehicle electronic components.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Canalyzer or similar tools for log analysis and troubleshooting.
- Experience with embedded software testing and release processes.
- Familiarity with factory, engineering, and service software download tools.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
