Job Description
NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Scientific Computing Engineer to provide comprehensive systems administration and support for our High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, virtual server environments, and diverse data storage systems within a Federal Healthcare agency. This role demands deep technical expertise in a range of technologies and a proactive approach to maintaining and enhancing scientific computing resources to support research initiatives.
This role is onsite in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize HPC clusters, Linux servers, NAS, SANs, and relational databases.
- Support the installation, maintenance, and enhancement of both commercial and open-source scientific software.
- Troubleshoot complex software issues, particularly those arising from command-line and web-based applications.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to understand evolving needs and provide technical solutions that enhance research capabilities.
- Develop and execute project plans that include system upgrades and new technology deployments.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in RedHat/CentOS/Scientific Linux, Perl/Python, and shell scripting.
- Experience with VMware ESX, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and various scientific computing software.
- Excellent communication skills and a service-oriented attitude.
