At Network for Hope (NFH) the Performance Excellence (PE) Director is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the Performance Excellence departments, ensuring operational efficiency, continuous compliance readiness, and ongoing support for the organization's drive towards excellence in alignment with its strategic goals. This includes areas of compliance and quality assurance, emergency preparedness and business continuity, data, and performance improvement. The PE Director oversees the development and execution of short and long-term departmental plans, supervises the Performance Excellence Managers, and ensures organizational support for improving and achieving excellence throughout the organization. This position will be based on-site in Louisville, KY. A

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Oversight &

Departmental Management

1. Lead the Performance Excellence Departments with comprehensive oversight of daily and long-term operations, aligning departmental strategies with organizational strategic goals and mission.

2. Review data including key performance indicators and develop plans to support the organization's ability to meet operational goals and strategic objectives.

3. Develop, plan, and execute strategic initiatives to support quality assurance, accreditation and regulatory compliance, data driven decision making, and improvement across the organization.

4. Oversee infrastructure and systems of the departments, implementing improvements to processes including compliance, business continuity, data, and improvement to support sustainable growth and operational excellence.

5. Assists the EVP & CPEO with the development, management, and oversight of the Performance Excellence department budgets, ensuring responsible use of resources and alignment with organizational priorities.

6. Monitor departmental spending, approve resource use, and implement cost-saving measures as appropriate.

7. Serves as a strategic partner to the EVP & CPEO and executive team, providing insights and recommendations on the pursuit and maintenance of performance excellence.

8. Attend relevant local, regional, and national meetings as required or assigned to represent the interests of the Performance Excellence department and NFH and to equip the department and organization with the necessary tools for success.

Staff

Leadership & Development

1. Directly manage Performance Excellence Managers, providing mentorship, support, and clear performance expectations to foster high-performing teams.

2. Oversee employee-related decisions, including hiring, discipline, and promotions, with the authority to make final decisions or provide significant input on employment matters.

3. Guide managers on employee relations issues and significant personnel

decisions, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and departmental standards.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

1. Collaborate and consult with NFH Leadership to ensure organizational compliance, operational integration, and understanding of current policies, procedures, and accreditation and regulatory standards.

2. Facilitate preparation efforts for external inspections and surveys by regulatory bodies, accreditation organizations, and other third parties.

3. Act as the primary point of contact during inspections and surveys, facilitating appropriate leadership and staff participation, coordinating requests for information, and immediate follow-up actions.

4. Oversee NFH leadership development, implementation, and verification of effectiveness for required accreditation and regulatory inspection or survey responses and improvement plans.

5. Oversee the implementation of key compliance and quality assurance activities (e.g. donor record reviews, internal audits, etc.) and ensure ongoing evaluation of their effectiveness by establishing relevant metrics and target achievement.

6. Under the direction of the EVP & CPEO, serves as the HIPAA Privacy Officer for the organization including:

a) protecting the integrity of protected health information (PHI);

b) ensuring ongoing employee HIPAA and confidentiality training;

c) assisting with reported breaches to ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions and compliance with applicable accreditation and regulatory standards and state and federal laws;

d) assuring the safe, secure, and confidential release of donor records and other protected health information occurs in accordance with legal requirements and standard operating procedure.

Emergency Preparedness & Business Continuity

1. Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's Business Continuity and Safety Program.

2. Collaborate and consult as needed to ensure organizational response prioritizes employee safety and is compliance with current policies, procedures, and accreditation and regulatory standards.

Improvement & Data

1. Collaborate and consult with NFH Leadership to promote a culture of continuous improvement and performance excellence.

2. Facilitate the identification and prioritization of improvement opportunities through data analysis, process review, and consultation with stakeholders.

3. Ensure that improvement efforts and outcomes are communicated to internal stakeholders, including senior leadership.

4. Provide consultation, training, coaching, and support to leaders and staff members to utilize standardized methods and tools to develop and track metrics, effectively solve problems and address opportunities for improvement and innovation.

5. Ensure organization problems are solved utilizing cross-functional teams relying on established improvement, implementation, and change management methods and tools.

6. Oversee the availability of relevant data, dashboards, and analysis to optimize operational processes, effectively measure performance, and drive successful outcomes.

7. Oversee data activity compliance with relevant accreditation and regulatory standards, guidelines, and industry best practices.

8. Oversee the accuracy and availability of Network for Hope's electronic donor system to ensure appropriate system evolution and use.

Education, experience and training

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare management, psychology or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of three to five years of process improvement, quality management, risk, compliance, or regulatory and accreditation experience in a related healthcare industry required, or OPO leadership and demonstrated experience with industry compliance, improvement, and metrics strongly preferred. Five to seven years of management or supervisory experience required.
  3. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Certification in quality or performance improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) helpful but not required.
