Position Summary:
NETworks is looking for a collaborative, efficient and organized individual to support the Production Management department. Reporting to the Senior Director of Production Management, and in collaboration with the Production Team, this position will assist the team in managing the daily operations and safety elements of current tours, the warehouse, and helping to plan upcoming future projects. Additionally, the Production Coordinator will collaborate with the Senior Director of Production Management and other Production Department members to develop ongoing recruitment, hiring, training and development systems, as well as department operational procedures and processes. Success in the role requires people skills, a passion for problem solving, the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously, attention to detail, a deep passion for theatre, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively within the organization, and with many touring crews. This position will be based in Buffalo, NY but may require significant travel throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
General Duties:
- In collaboration with the rest of the Production Department, manage NETworks Safety training programs for road employees, including the tracking of employee completion and expiration, working with third party consultants on improvements and implementing all necessary new requirements.
- Setting up and maintaining Safety Boxes on the road by ordering, tracking servicing dates, and training employees on use.
- Support the Production Department by attending meetings, taking notes, and engaging members of the production as needed.
- Support all tours in coordinating and executing necessary perishable ordering.
Pre-Production and Production
- Assist the Production Department in the bid and award process of scenic, lighting, audio, and costume/hair packages for the production.
- Support the Production Department with recruiting and prescreening potential candidates for crew positions. Work with the Sr. Director of Production to develop and maintain recruitment systems and strategies.
- Collaborate with the Production and Booking departments in the creation and maintenance of production technical riders.
- Work with the Production Department to coordinate and book all rehearsal needs, including spaces, costume needs, and load-in/out labor.
- Work with the Production Department to coordinate and notate all Production, Vendor and other meetings as needed.
- Ensure all production files and tour information are properly archived.
- Support warehouse operations, as assigned.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Theatrical work experience required, and office experience preferred. Experience in theatrical touring a plus.
- Self-starter, who’s able to adapt to multiple work environments, an maintain extreme attention to detail.
- Solution-oriented and comfortable in high-pressure situations.
- General understanding of carpentry, rigging, automation, lighting, sound, props and costumes in a theatrical setting.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to collaborate with multiple personalities and types of positions (e.g. Director, Producer, technicians, etc.)
- High level of Computer proficiency, experience using Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel, Zoom, and Adobe with the ability to learn new software programs.
- Advanced Drafting skills preferred (Vectorworks or AutoCAD).
Work Environment
This role is expected to help create a professional work environment and is required to work in a variety of locations and venues, including the NETworks warehouse in Buffalo, NY. Must be able to travel, work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Must be able to adapt to multiple buildings / theater venues and work long hours during the technical period(s) in dimly lit environments. Must be able to travel in multiple modes of transportation, including planes, trains, charter and sleeper coaches, and cars. Must be able to perform functions of position remotely with varied temporary workspaces.
Physical Demands
Ability to travel via air/train/vehicle and upright or sleeper buses for an extended period. The ability to work varied hours due to show requirements and needs during the production and operating period. The ability to perform job responsibilities in a high stress, crisis management environment and manage multiple staff members’ requirements and priorities and the ability to manage and balance multiple projects. Must be able to travel for an extended overnight period(s). Applicants must be able to push, pull, move and lift 25 lbs and work in varied environments (cold, heat, rain).
Salary
Commensurate with experience, pay range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000 with benefits package including healthcare, dental, vision, 401k, life insurance, and paid time off. OSHA Safety training/certification will be provided.
