Neuberger Berman’s Private Equity business is rapidly growing with over $150 billion of investor commitments across our private equity platform. The Alternatives Finance Group plays a pivotal role in managing accounting, operations, treasury, and valuation for this rapidly expanding platform. Beyond these core functions, the team collaborates closely with business leaders and stakeholders on new mandates, structuring, and maintaining strong relationships with limited partners.

The salary range for this role is $200,000-$250,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the job posting location. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package. We are seeking a Head of Alternatives Performance Reporting to lead and transform the performance reporting team. This individual will oversee the production and optimization of key performance metrics that drive internal monitoring, client reporting, and support RFPs and marketing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Process Optimization: Transition the performance reporting process from manual, spreadsheet-driven workflows to an automated analytical approach.
- Policy Design & Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor performance calculation policies across the Alternatives platform to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Performance Metrics Management: Oversee the calculation and centralization of Fund, Separate Account, Mandate, and platform performance metrics, including IRR, MOIC, DPI, TVPI, PME, modeled net returns, time series calculations, and other key measures.
- Collaborative Reporting Support: Partner with the marketing team to provide performance metrics for RFPs and collaborate with investment teams, senior leadership, and other stakeholders on ad-hoc performance analysis.
- Management Reporting: Design and produce management reports to monitor performance metrics and track the team’s contributions to business objectives.
- Input Validation: Work closely with accounting and finance teams to review and validate cash flow and valuation inputs used in performance models.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of accounting theory, fund accounting, and financial reporting principles.
- Deep technical knowledge of performance metrics, including IRR, MOIC, DPI, and others.
- Familiarity with SEC marketing rules and regulatory requirements.
- 15 years of performance reporting, accounting, finance, and/or valuation experience.
- Professional certifications such as CPA and/or CFA.
- Practical understanding of private equity, private credit, and bespoke private equity transactions.
- Proven ability to lead teams and foster collaboration across various levels of the organization.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently and drive innovation.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering accurate results.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, with working knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a customer-service focus.
