Neumann University is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Graduate Assistant (GA) - Community Standards. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Community Standards, the Graduate Assistant for Community Standards supports the administration of the student conduct process, ensuring adherence to university policies rooted in Neumann University's Catholic Franciscan tradition. This role involves assisting with case management, conducting preliminary investigations, and supporting the coordination of student conduct hearings. Additionally, the Graduate Assistant helps develop and facilitate educational programs on the Student Code of Conduct, collaborates on hazing prevention initiatives, and ensures compliance with federal mandates such as FERPA and the Clery Act.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: assist in managing student conduct cases, including maintaining accurate records and documentation. support the coordination of the student conduct process, including scheduling hearings and communicating with involved parties; ensure all disciplinary processes are conducted in accordance with university policies and relevant regulations; assist in the recruitment, training, and development of student conduct officers and advisors; participate in the creation and implementation of training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of student conduct officers; develop and facilitate educational programs to inform the campus community about the Student Code of Conduct and related processes; collaborate with the Office of Student Well-Being on initiatives such as hazing and substance prevention programming; ensure compliance with federal mandates, including FERPA and the Clery Act, in all student conduct processes; assist in the preparation of reports and documentation related to community standards and student conduct; collaborate with University stakeholders to support the recruitment and retention of students to Neumann University.
This position will begin in early-August 2025 and end late-May 2026. Participation in the August GA training prior to the start of the fall semester is required. This position is a 10-month, live-on required assignment (August - May). Graduate Assistants reappointed in this role for the following academic year may continue to live in their on-campus apartment if they participate in a summer duty rotation. No other responsibilities will take place during the summer terms.
This is a full-time (3/3) graduate assistantship; not to exceed 20 hours per week and maintains regular evening, weekend, late-night, and some overnight responsibilities. Position responsibilities may be adjusted when they are on-call, so their hours do not exceed 20 hours per week. Expected to extend hours when necessary and may be adjusted to meet the needs of the university.
Qualifications: Enrolled master's degree candidate in an approved graduate program at Neumann University is required; Bachelor's degree required; professional manner and appearance; enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Neumann University; registered for at least 6 graduate credits during any semester in which you are awarded a GA position; maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above in graduate courses; ability to identify boundaries and the need to prioritize self-care as needed; strong desire to develop skills and receive constructive feedback; as a visible agent of Neumann University, ability to uphold the highest standards of conduct, attitude, appearance, and confidentiality; excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats; clear evidence of the ability to collaborate with various constituencies, including, but not limited to, students, staff, faculty, and the broader community; excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats.. Candidates must possess an appreciation for and congruence with the Catholic Franciscan mission of the University.
