What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Care Manager position at Nevada Behavioral Health Systems?
The Behavioral Health Care Manager serves as an integral member of the Collaborative Care team in their assigned clinic, working closely with the patient’s primary medical provider, psychiatric consultant, and the broader medical team. This role involves supporting and coordinating both the mental and physical health care of patients within an assigned caseload, collaborating with the patient's medical provider, and, when necessary, engaging other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
Responsibilities
- Supports the behavioral and physical health care of patients on an assigned patient caseload. Closely coordinates care with the patient’s medical provider and, when appropriate, other mental health providers.
- Performs assessment and screening for mental health and substance use disorders and facilitates engagement and follow up care for patients
- Provides patient education about common mental health and substance abuse disorders and the available treatment options.
- Systematically tracks treatment response and monitors patients (in person or by telephone) for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications.
- Supports psychotropic medication management as prescribed by medical providers, focusing on treatment adherence monitoring, side effects, and effectiveness of treatment.
- Provides short-term therapy services using evidence-based techniques such as CBT, ACT, DBT skills etc.
- Participates in regularly scheduled (usually weekly) caseload consultation with the psychiatric consultant and communicates resulting treatment recommendations to the patient’s medical provider.
- Tracks patient follow up and clinical outcomes using a registry. Document in-person and telephone encounters in the registry and use the system to identify and re-engage patients.
- Facilitates creation of treatment plans and changes for patients who are not improving as expected in consultation with the medical provider and the psychiatric consultant and who may need more intensive or more specialized behavioral health care.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate electronic patient records while remaining in compliance with all HIPAA and Confidentiality policies and procedures.

Experience
· Minimum of two (2) years of postgraduate clinical experience in behavioral health, including treatment planning and the provision of therapeutic services
Education
· Master’s degree in a behavioral health field (i.e., social work, counseling, psychology)
License, Certificate Or Registration
· Active licensure in the state of Nevada as an LCSW, MFT, and/or CPC, or intern license recognized by the state of Nevada is required
Salary is dependent on experience and license level
