SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Nevada Hospital Association (NHA) President / CEO, the Workforce and Clinical Services Director is responsible for the disciplines of nursing, workforce, regulatory compliance, quality management, and patient safety. This person will work with members, other healthcare providers, community organizations, academic institutions, and government officials in support of advancing NHA’s advocacy efforts. The Workforce and Clinical Services Director supports the President / CEO and the board of directors to implement the Association’s overall mission, goals and objectives and guides the work of the NHA team to ensure that member needs are met in a timely manner.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions :
- Support the NHA’s mission as a membership organization serving as a leader in promoting public understanding of, and support for, the healthcare delivery system in Nevada.
- Providing members educational information, consultation, and advocacy on healthcare issues.
- Lead and support collaboration by hospitals, physicians, managed care organizations, and others to shape local, state, and federal policy initiatives.
- Identify alternative funding sources to advance NHA projects and initiatives.
- Provide quick and responsive service to all members.
- Engage members in initiatives targeting quality, safety, and patient outcomes.
- Create a committee of leaders who support evidence based best practices in hospitals.
- Represent the NHA members interests on external commissions, boards, advisory panels, and task forces as directed by the President / CEO.
- Ensure the accuracy and relevance of all educational and advocacy content, including the NHA website.
- Support the collaboration between academic partners and hospitals for the education of nursing students and facilitate clinical placements in hospitals.
- Support workforce initiatives to grow the number of nurses and nurse educators in Nevada.
- Support the relationship between the NHA and the Nevada Organization of Nurse Leaders (NONL) to bolster membership, assist in the development of nurse leaders, and encourage their involvement in the legislative process.
- Be knowledgeable of the legislative and regulatory process and provide support for the NHA President / CEO and member hospitals.
- Review, analyze, and summarize legislation and regulations addressing workforce and clinical issues.
- Assist other NHA staff in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the NHA.
- Submit an annual work plan and periodic reports by date due, as well as other reports as directed by the President / CEO.
