Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy. Our VISION is to be the user site of choice for large-scale, high-hazard, national security experimentation, with premier facilities and capabilities below ground, on the ground, and in the air. The Nevada National Security Site is seeking highly motivated candidates for 12-month post-baccalaureate positions in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Physics. This is an opportunity for you to perform unique work that can greatly improve your future job opportunities and/or prepare you for graduate school. You will work alongside a multi-institutional team of engineers and scientists and will gain direct experience performing installation, check-out, and testing of state-of-the-art accelerator systems for the Advanced Sources and Detectors Project.
This Project is a collaboration between the Nevada National Security Site, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratory and is responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of the world’s most advanced accelerator named Scorpius. Scorpius will be located at the Nevada National Security Site and a subset of the accelerator is presently being installed in North Las Vegas.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Work alongside scientists and engineers to install cutting-edge technologies in North Las Vegas and the Nevada National Security Site.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to perform start-up and testing activities.
- Contribute to documentation of results in institutional reports and peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to and participate in planning and reporting activities.
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
- Completion of Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for Mechanical and Electrical degrees, as of the date application is submitted.
- or Completion of a Calculus-based STEM bachelor’s degree in engineering, as of the date application is submitted. Formal education in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) field as demonstrated by completion of a Bachelor's degree.
- Must be located in the contiguous United States.
- Able to work within a team environment in North Las Vegas and at the Nevada National Security Site.
- Willingness to gain experience with installation, trouble-shooting, and start-up of state-of-the-art accelerator systems.
- Able to document progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Strong computer skills are desired, including MS Office and computer programming.
- A pre-placement drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
