We are seeking a passionate community organizer to mobilize South Asians in Nevada to be more civically engaged and informed about the policies that affect their community.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Organizer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for mobilizing community members, fostering relationships, and advocating for social change. This role requires strong communication skills, a commitment to community engagement, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. The Community Organizer will play a crucial role in raising awareness of key issues and driving awareness for initiatives that benefit the community.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage community members and stakeholders.
- Organize events, workshops, and meetings to promote community involvement and education.
- Write and distribute press releases to inform the public about initiatives and events.
- Conduct research to identify community needs and assess the impact of programs.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences through weekly/ monthly public speaking engagements.
- Edit and proofread materials for clarity, accuracy, and consistency before distribution.
- Collaborate with team members to create marketing materials that promote initiatives.
- Monitor community trends and issues to inform advocacy efforts.
- Champion efforts to increase voter registration and engagement within the community. Work with the organizing team to develop culturally sensitive strategies that increase voter turnout and participation in elections.
- Collect and analyze data on community engagement, members, voter registration, and program effectiveness. Use insights from this data to refine strategies and improve outreach efforts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in community organizing or a related field is preferred.
- Strong writing skills with experience in journalism or similar disciplines.
- Excellent public speaking abilities with a knack for engaging diverse audiences..
- Proficient in research methodologies to gather data relevant to community needs.
- Strong proofreading skills with attention to detail in written communications.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine passion for social justice, advocacy, and community empowerment.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 15 per week
