Job Description: Recreation Coordinator
Position Overview: The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing recreational activities for clients in our facility. This role ensures that the clients we are serving have access to engaging, fun, therapeutic and developmentally appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, and social growth in a safe and supportive environment. The Recreation Coordinator works closely with staff and management to create a positive, nurturing atmosphere where the clients can thrive.
Shift: Tues - Sat 12p-8p or Wed - Sun 12p - 8p
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development:
- Design and implement a variety of recreational programs tailored to the age, needs, and interests of the clients.
- Develop activities that encourage social interaction, teamwork, and individual skill-building.
- Plan seasonal events, games, sports, field trips, and educational activities.
2. Activity Supervision:
- Ensure the safety of all children during recreational activities by maintaining appropriate staff-to-client ratios.
- Attend the activities with the clients and be an active participant
- Supervise and engage the clients in daily activities, ensuring that they are participating and enjoying themselves.
-Provide guidance and positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior and teamwork.
3. Staff Collaboration:
- Work closely with other facility staff, including clinicians and management, to coordinate recreational schedules and ensure alignment with the facility’s overall goals and program schedules.
- Provide training and support to other staff members involved in recreation activities.
4. Monitoring and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of activities, attendance, and any incidents that occur during recreational sessions.
- Monitor client’s progress and engagement, providing feedback and recommendations to management.
5. Resource Management:
- Maintain inventory of recreational equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is in good condition.
- Order and replace items as needed, staying within budget.
6. Communication:
- Maintain open lines of communication with children, staff, and families regarding the recreational programs and activities.
- Report any concerns regarding a child’s behavior, health, or well-being to appropriate staff members.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in recreation, social work, education, or a related field preferred.
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting, preferably in a residential or institutional environment.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan, implement, and adapt programs for children with diverse needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude when working with children.
- First Aid and CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain).
Personal Qualities:
- Energetic and creative, with a passion for working with children.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle challenging situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
