FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2025-2026
TITLE: Suspension Alternative Lab (SAL) Coordinator
PAY GRADE 9: $16.85 - $17.95 hourly (based on education and experience)
DAILY HOURS: 7 hours per day
REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SUMMARY: Supervises and monitors students who have been assigned to Suspension Alternative Lab and provides counsel and guidance in constructive decision making by performing the following duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree, two (2) years college credit or successful completion of ParaPro Assessment Test or experience equal to 1,000 hours in a prior year in a classroom instructional aide position.- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Demonstrated experience in working with school aged children, parents and faculty.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises and monitors students who have been assigned to S.A.L. for misbehavior.
- Collects assignments from teachers for students in S.A.L.
- Assists students with assignments and returns completed assignments to teacher's mailboxes.
- Counsels students; assists them in addressing their behavioral and emotional problems.
- Maintains student information related to S.A.L. program; generates reports for state, administrators and principal.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal and/or other designee.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Job Requirements
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
