What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Teacher for Teens position at New Art Center?
Description:
The New Art Center is seeking full time, seasonal teen art instructors for grades 7-12 in the following mediums/areas: digital character design, self-portraiture, landscape painting, mixed media collage and assemblage for our busy 10-week summer camp program.
The position is Monday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm and has weekly sessions that run from late June through the end of August. This program operates on a week by week session structure. Instructors can commit to up to 6 weeks of the summer program.
Opportunities for school-year teaching may be offered to qualified candidates.
Rate of $28/hour (or commensurate with experience)
Qualifications:
- BA Studio Art, Art Education, or Elementary Ed degree
- 2-3 years of classroom or studio teaching experience
- Must pass a background check including CORI/SORI
- Classroom management skills
- Experience writing lesson plans
- Enthusiastic teaching style that encourages both skill-building and creativity
- Ability to adapt lessons to different age groups and skill levels.
- Welcoming, nurturing temperament and possess the patience often required for working with children
- Knowledge of art materials and general care of studio space. Knowledge of basic first aid is a plus.
