OFFICIAL TITLE: Employee Relations ManagerWORKING TITLE: ER ManagerWORK YEAR: 12 monthsSUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: The Employee Relations Manager will support Building and department leaders with all aspects of employee relations, so as to maximize a positive impact on the education of students. Provides support and direction to the building and department leaders as it relates to employee relations, policy interpretation, compliance and training. Provides protocols and processes to ensure a consistent approach to the management of employee relations matters. This position will act as a liaison to both administration and employees as needed regarding employment related questions and concerns to support a positive and inclusive work environment for all.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDSQUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of five (5) years of Human Resources experience required with a focus on Employee Relations strongly preferred.Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning employee relations including but not limited to Chapter 71, FMLA, MPLA, SNLA, ADA, and Workers Compensation.Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies to complex employee relations issues.Must demonstrate strong skills in both written and verbal communications; including a demonstrated ability to stay calm and remain tactful in difficult/challenging situationsThorough understanding of dispute resolution and an ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and proactively analyze and resolve problems while maintaining a strong attention to detail and confidentiality. Must demonstrate an ability to be analytical, strategic, and diplomatic self-motivated and flexible with an ability to set priorities and work with limited supervision.Must demonstrate an ability to maintain a professional and inclusive workplace atmosphere.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Frontline, Aspen and MUNIS strongly preferred. An independent willingness to upgrade skills as necessary is expected.Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide strategic support, direction, training and coaching to building and department leaders on issues related to employee relations.
Provides guidance to all stakeholders regarding District policies, procedures and regulations as they relate to employment.Oversee/manage the employee relations processes and procedures to enable effective management, conflict resolution, and problem solving.Conducting, overseeing and/or otherwise assisting with internal investigations regarding employee complaints and/or concerns. Conducts training as it relates to employee relation matters to Administration and staff as needed.Oversees all administration of employee leaves of absence including but not limited to: FMLA, SNLA, Parental Leave and all other type of contractual and non-contractual leaves of absence.Manages workers compensation claims submission and the related claim/case management.Manages the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) interactive meeting process and related case management.Gather and analyze data to develop recommendations and strategies to facilitate positive employee relations and engagementWork closely with building and department leaders to identify opportunities to proactively and preventatively address common employee relations related concerns/issuesSupervises/evaluated staff as directed/assigned.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-Union, 12-month Year positionSalary: $63,000.00 - $78,000.00PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing): Frequent fine motor use such as typing, filing. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, as needed. May lift, push, pull up to 20 lbs.
Travel between school locations throughout the workday as needed.
