The Addictions / Substance Abuse Counselor will provide ADSS and individualized one-on-one substance use recovery services and supports which build on the strengths and resilience of the individual
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience:
- Must be certified in the state of Georgia as a CAADC, ICAADC, GCADC-III, MAC, GCADC-II, CADC-II, ICADC-II, or CAC-II. Opportunity to provide lower level clinicians supervision.
- Current credential as a Substance Use Disorder/Addiction Counselor issued by a state, international or credentialing authority.
- Person must have a minimum of 1-year experience working with clientele suffering from MH/SA issues and their families.
- Under supervision of an appropriately licensed/credentialed professional upon employment, as needed.
- Must maintain yearly professional liability insurance.
- Certification education/degree/experience required:
- Master’s degree or above in human services with a clinical application (CAADC, ICAADC, GCADC-II) OR
- Master’s degree documentation of a minimum of 12 semester hours of graduate coursework in the area or 500 CE hours specifically in addictions OR Master’s degree or higher in substance use disorders/addiction and/or counseling related subjects (MAC) OR
- Bachelor’s degree. Meet the legal standards set forth in GA Code 43- 10A-7 (GCADC-II, CADC-II, ICADC-II, CAC-II).
Duties Include:
- Provide individualized one-on-one substance use recovery services and supports which build on the strengths and resilience of the individual.
- Services limited to the provision of chemical dependency treatment.
- Responsible for staffing cases when assigned, when requested, and when you believe necessary.
- Provide designated services as dictated by active/current treatment plan of the individual in treatment.
- Render crisis protocol, as needed.
- Present cases in the treatment team meetings.
- Assist treatment team in revising goals.
- Evaluate and document consumer’s progress towards their goals and make appropriate referrals.
- Provide crisis intervention, as needed.
- Adhere to all responsibilities identified by NBT Administrative personnel such as Clinical Director or Supervisor.

- Collaborating with other professionals.
- Be a productive member of the staff.
- Communicate effectively, clearly, and appropriately and ensure client care and clinician concerns are known.
- Use excellent judgment.
- Prompt arrival to sessions/meetings is strongly encouraged.
