POSITION SUMMARY
To ensure that our school and residential setting is a safe, predictable, and responsive environment for all students, the Dean of Students will strive to create a structured, positive, academic, and therapeutic focused school culture. S/he will model how to build strong, mutually respectful relationships with students and families and support teachers, special programs teacher assistants and residential childcare assistants to do the same. S/he serves as the team leader for positive programming and identification of additional resources and programs for families (academic support, enrichment, preventative programs, etc.). The Dean is the keeper of culture, ensuring that our organization’s focus supports high levels of student growth and achievement. This position requires a creative and inspiring professional with adult leadership experience, high energy, excellent organizational abilities, and a talent for creating a warm and supportive environment for students. The Dean will serve as a member of the administrative team dedicated to cultivating excellence throughout the school and community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Steward of school culture
● Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with organizational policies, and applicable laws
● Receives referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement; responds to and resolves parent, student, and staff concerns and complaints
● Supervises students on campus and monitors students during arrival & departure; develops transportation plans for students; coordinates transportation to/from home.
● Communicates high expectations for both staff and students and provides appropriate motivation to reach expectations
● Implements an organizational wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and consequences
● Owns the school’s character development efforts
● Conduct regular school culture walkthroughs to help staff maintain a high bar of excellence.
● Models organizational wide culture of respect and support of students
● Prioritizes academic learning, resiliency, and support for students
● Models strengths-based, growth-mindset approach to maintaining a strong school culture
● Oversees the development and implementation of student supports and intervention.
● Ensures clear and consistent implementation of student accountability practices amongst staff
● Oversees behavioral interventions, including family meetings, meetings with school districts and other agencies
● Supports staff to create and sustain classroom management systems that ensure a focus on learning and student success
● Implements and follows policies and procedures for student dress code, discipline and other policies related to maintaining a positive school culture of learning and achievement
● Facilitate faculty and staff development related to school culture and consistent enforcement of positive, therapeutic programming
Site Administration and Support
● Directly oversees and supervises the Residential Director and residential setting, nursing services, and transportation.
● Participates as needed in Individual Educational Plan meetings.
● Participates in Student Study Teams and Multi-Tiered Support service model at site.
● Supports the maintenance of site cleanliness and inspirational and motivational slogans, posters & quotes throughout the school and classrooms.
● Supervise the consistent and fair administration of school policies regarding student conduct
and positive, therapeutic programming.
● Assists Site Directors in staff classroom & Residential observations and instructional coaching as needed.
● Make habits of scholars visible across the school through usage of signage.
● Assists Site Director with recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and evaluation of the school
personnel as needed.
● Designs opportunities to build staff culture.
● Assists Site Director in providing orientation for newly assigned staff members.
● Assists Site Director with data dives and assessment processes.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Master’s degree; Educational Leadership
● Valid Wyoming Administration License
● Valid Wyoming drivers’ license and ability to drive a car to perform job requirements.
● Minimum of three years of school wide, and/or classroom teaching experience.
