WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low voltage infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity, robust Wi-Fi networks, and high-speed Fiber Optic connections across our organization. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience with low voltage systems, and the ability to work as part of a team.

JOB DUTIES:
- Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling, including data and voice cables.
- Measuring, cutting, and installing conduits runs within a building to house low voltage cabling
- Set up and maintain security systems, including CCTV cameras and access control systems.
- Install, configure, and optimize Wi-Fi networks for optimal performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Wi-Fi performance issues, ensuring reliable connectivity.
- Implement security measures to safeguard Wi-Fi networks against unauthorized access.
- Deploy new, conduct splicing, termination, and testing Fiber Optic connections for high-speed data transfer.
- Install and configure audio-visual equipment for conference rooms and collaborative spaces.
- Ensure seamless integration of audio-visual systems with overall IT infrastructure.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and implement preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of low voltage installations, Wi-Fi and Fiber Optic configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide detailed reports on completed projects and ongoing maintenance activities.
- Ensure all low voltage installations, Wi-Fi networks, and Fiber Optic connections comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to design and implement Wi-Fi networks to meet organizational requirements.
- Competence to diagnose and resolve issues related to low voltage systems, Wi-Fi networks, and Fiber Optics promptly.
- Ability to collaborate with network engineers to ensure efficient integration of Fiber Optic infrastructure.
- Experience bending conduit (EMT, Rigid,Ocal/PVC)
- Experience in running and terminating low voltage cabling (CAT 6/6a/7/8, Single mode/Multi mode fiber optics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Resourceful and problem solver
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and other departments.
- Ability to explain technical concepts, including Wi-Fi configurations and Fiber Optic installations, to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or two-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certification in low voltage systems
- 2 years of experience in Low Voltage and/or Fiber Optics
- Valid Driver License and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Wi-Fi or Fiber Optics and terminations
- Lift Certified (Boom/Scissor 30’)
- BICSI Technician/Installer
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis
- Environmental exposure- hot/humid conditions (95 ° or above).
- Environmental exposure- cold/wet conditions (40 ° or below)
- Material exposure – moving mechanical parts
- Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry between 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in an upright position walking on both even and uneven surfaces
- Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel on a regular basis
- Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle objects in one position for an extended period of time.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
1st Shift – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Monday through Friday; Overtime, Weekends, On-Call and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
