What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Career Assistant (Student part-time) position at New College of Florida?
Student Career Assistants (SCA) will promote career readiness by assisting students who visit the CEO in the pursuit of their career goals. SCAs will play a key role in increasing the CEO’s visibility and impact on campus by speaking to students, creating new initiatives, and completing projects with the support of CEO staff members.· Teach students resume and cover letter writing skills by conducting document reviews, search strategies, career exploration, Handshake, and other career topics.
· Facilitate and co-facilitate group advising career workshops.
· Assist with special events, career fairs, and programming initiatives.
· Present information about the CEO, upon request, to student organizations, residence halls, classrooms, and other groups.
· Participate in campus outreach efforts and promote CEO services, programs, events, and recruiter activities, staff outreach tables at events, and educate the campus community about CE programs.
· Provide coverage at the front desk; assist with greeting visitors to the CEO; answer and direct phone calls, and complete office administrative tasks as needed.
· Ensure the CEO’s public space, storage areas, and desk spaces remain organized and clean and assist CEO staff with special projects.
· Coordinate and maintain efforts within our Career Closet to ensure students are utilizing the service and the items are appropriate· Successful completion of one semester at New College by employment start date (1 successful contract required).
· Genuine interest in helping fellow students develop their skills.
· Interested in learning career-related information and advising students one-on-one and in small groups.
· Ability to communicate and provide high levels of service to students and other CEO stakeholders using a friendly and courteous attitude.
· Capacity for tact and confidentiality.
· Detail-oriented and conscientious when completing tasks.
· Committed to showing up for assigned shifts; reliable and dependable.
· Willing to take initiative and be a good team player.Preference will be given to those that have used the CEO.
