Position Summary

The Program Director – Education is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of all educational programs. The Program Director will lead strategic planning to ensure educational programs are innovative, responsive to community needs, and aligned with organizational goals. This individual will also implement best practices in educational delivery and continuously seek opportunities for improvement. The Program Director – Education will drive the success of educational programs, ensuring they meet compliance, performance, and financial objectives. Additionally, the Program Director is an ambassador of NEW's mission, actively contributing to the organization's objectives and ensuring alignment. As an ambassador for the organization, this person is also responsible for actively supporting the overall mission and vision of NEW.

Candidate Profile :

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with a proven track record in educational program management, strategic planning, and organizational development. This individual will possess exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, a commitment to excellence in education, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to drive success. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following expertise, experience, and skills to successfully fulfill the duties and responsibilities outlined below :

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Oversight :

  • Review and assess the effectiveness of existing educational programs. Make recommendations for program enhancements and present these recommendations to the CEO to drive continuous improvement and align programs with organizational goals. Regularly evaluate program outcomes to ensure success and impact.
  • Conduct regular site visits to educational program locations to build relationships, provide support, and ensure that programs are being delivered effectively. Strengthen the connection between staff and leadership by offering guidance, resources, and motivation to ensure high-quality program execution.

Contract & Compliance Management :

  • Review program contracts to ensure compliance with organizational standards and external regulations. Monitor program performance against agreed-upon metrics and ensure adherence to all contractual obligations and funding requirements.
  • Lead program audits to ensure compliance with organizational standards and regulations. Ensure that all audits are successful and that necessary corrective actions are taken to address any gaps in compliance.
  • Financial Management & Budgeting :

  • Manage the educational program budget, ensuring that resources are used effectively to maximize program outcomes. Oversee financial tracking and reporting, ensuring program funds are allocated efficiently and in compliance with all relevant guidelines. Work closely with the Fund Development Department to identify and pursue funding opportunities.
  • Staff Supervision :

  • Supervise cross-departmental teams, providing guidance, direction, and support to staff members working on various aspects of the program.
  • Ensure staff are aligned with organizational goals and provide opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • Address performance issues and ensure staff are motivated and equipped to meet objectives.
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience managing government contracts.
  • Proven track record in program management, resource coordination, and staff development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage external partners, provide reports, and support programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and applications, and database systems and software as needed by the program.
  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business administration, the social sciences, or related field is required or at least 10 years experience managing public grants and city-funded programs.
  • Additional Requirements

  • Must have access to reliable transportation provide proof of current California driver's license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.
  • TB Clearance.
  • Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • New Economics for Women is a California-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
