Investment Accountant
Position Description
Thisposition will be responsible for monthly investment accounting, book close,account reconciliation and analysis, and an understanding of accountingprinciples, practices, and procedures to deliver accurate and timely financialreports.
This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of investmentaccounting activities including transaction processing and cash reconciliation.
Theposition will have contact with clients, NEAM's portfolio managers, and thefirm's President and Chief Executive Officer, which requires stronginterpersonal communication skills to provide excellent customer service.Primary responsibilities include :
Prepares monthly investment report package on a timely basis for STAT, GAAP, IFRS and other bases
Prepares statutory quarterly and annual Schedule D regulatory reports and GAAP financial and footnote packages for investment accounting clients with prompt regard for established deadlines
Performs daily reconciliation of accounts to the custodial and / or external manager record including cash, trades, income and dividends, special deposits, etc., including communication with clients and custodians to clarify and resolve discrepancies
Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the client's general ledger structure
Monitors and analyzes their own work to develop more efficient procedures while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Responds to inquiries from the clients, their auditors, and NEAM's portfolio managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc. in a timely manner
Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department
Maintains monthly performance results of clients' portfolios
Collaborate with the other investment accountants to support overall department goals and objectives

We currently offer a hybrid schedule with M / F remote and T / W / TR inthe office. Investment Accounting hasthe option to work remotely the 1st week of each month for themonth-end close.

Qualifications
BA / BS in Business with an emphasis in accountingrequired, CPA desired but not required.
Experience in Insurance or Financial Services
Strong ability to work under pressure and meet required deadlines
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting
Must have developed experience with Microsoft Excel (Vlookup, macros, pivot tables, etc.)
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and stay organized
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required
SQL report writing experience desired
