A regional auction house is looking to add a full-time Auction Generalist to their dynamic team. New England Auctions is a mid-sized auction company that is owner-operated by Fred and Kathy Giampietro who have more than 40 years experience in the field of fine art and antiques. Located in Branford, CT, New England Auctions holds monthly curated in-house and online auctions that showcase the best in Americana, fine art, collectibles, jewelry, etc.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to support our team in clerical, administrative and auction-related tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The role is essential in ensuring smooth operations within the auction house and providing excellent support to both clients and staff.
Full Time Responsibilities:
- Answer client phone calls
- Greet clients arriving at the gallery
- Answer and/or forward client emails
- Accept UPS, Fedex and postal deliveries
- Schedule and assist clients with item pickup and consignment drop off
- Organize and collect items for shipper pickup
- Send invoices and collect online, wire transfer, check and cash payments
- Assist clients with pre-auction and day-of registration, the placing of phone and absentee bids, sales tax and shipping release forms
- Assist Business Administrator with light filing and other tasks
- Assist General Manager with auction set-up, item lotting and customer previews
- Assist with auction cataloguing and the linking of photos to our online platform
Skills:
- Strong organizational and clerical skills with a keen attention to detail
- Proficient in data entry with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Demonstrated phone etiquette for professional communication
- Strong proof reading abilities to ensure quality documentation
- Basic knowledge of financial record keeping is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented enviroment
Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in digital photography is beneficial, but not required
- Proficiency in digital editing is beneficial, but not required
- Experience in the auction/fine art field is beneficial, but not required
