What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Internship - Laboratory position at New England Biolabs, Inc.?
New England Biolabs offers paid summer internship opportunities for students to gain real-world experience in the biotechnology industry. These internships are designed for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or students entering college in fall 2024. Interns are involved in projects related to research, application development, and production, and receive supervision from the NEB scientist to which they are assigned. Eligibility: Students enrolled in an undergraduate program or 2024 high school graduates entering an academic program pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the fall of 2024. Interns working in a laboratory setting must be at least 18 years old. Interns must be authorized to work in the United States. Time frame: The application process for summer internships opens in mid-January and extends through the end of February 2024. Resume review, virtual candidate interviews, and candidate selections occur between late January – mid-March. Interns may work between May - August 2024. Program Highlights: Interns are invited to attend weekly internal and external seminars. The purpose of the in-house seminar is to provide students with an overview of NEB research and development and to help interns see how their projects fit into the big picture. The external seminars, presented by invited speakers, expose students to various scientific fields. Interns present their summer work in a formal talk or at a poster session to the NEB community in August. Interns have the opportunity to have informal discussions with NEB scientists from various backgrounds. Please submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.
