What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Accountant position at New England College?
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts accurately and timely, as assigned, working with other departments as needed;
- Reconciliation and recording of cash advances on a monthly basis to meet the month end close;
- Coordinating credit card accounts, including sending out monthly statements to credit card holders, and matching receipts to statements;
- Assist the Controller with budget/actual monitoring on a weekly basis, identifying issues and suggesting solutions;
- Preparation and timely entering of monthly journal entries, as directed;
- Coordinate purchases requiring use of the College corporate credit card, including, but not limited to, reviewing requests and obtaining approval, meeting with employee to process credit card information, direct ordering, and collecting receipts;
- Entering fixed assets into the FAS subsidiary system as directed, running depreciation and pulling monthly reports required for reconciliation;
- Responsible for the abandoned property process, including communications and reports to the State of NH;
- Coordinate corporate accounts with vendors, including but not limited to, Amazon, PayPal, Enterprise;
- Assist in preparation of quarterly and year-end reconciliations, as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting;
Experience
- Strong background in computer-based processes;
- 1-3 years of general ledger reconciliation or accounting experience.
- Strong time management skills;
- Ability to adapt to constant changes in priorities and tasks;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Strong verbal, written and communication skills;
- Experience with Microsoft office products.
- Ellucian Banner experience preferred.
