New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 55 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation’s donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves nearly 15 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $140M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 360 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

Job Description

The Applications Analyst assists NEDS’ departments in optimizing workflow processes through implementing and supporting applications that are tailored to meet the department’s needs. 

Via information technology tactics, this role supports the needs of various client departments or workflows across the organization through project coordination, applications implementation, application validation, upgrades, ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, enhancements, or documentation.  The Applications Analyst is responsible for a full range of clinical and non-clinical applications, workflow analyses, and improvement activities. 

Technical support

  • Provides application implementation support, technical guidance, and serves as primary resolution point for all tier 1 and 2 issues regarding assigned applications.
  • Develops and monitors testing scenarios and methodologies to demonstrate system effectiveness. Prepares and maintains documentation on testing plans.
  • Performs job functions adhering to service principles: customer oriented, service excellence, and teamwork. 

Analytics

  • Works collaboratively with end-users to understand complex workflows and develop system support, including analysis of business needs and user needs, translation into proper system requirement specifications and documentation of requirements.
  • Maintain documentation on application configuration and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Evaluates system utilization, auditing, and performance. Participates in system optimization.
  • Additional key responsibilities include developing test plans, documenting user requirements, creating scope documents, facilitating project meetings, applying software development lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge and application support.

Project Management

  • Manages small to medium-sized assigned projects or particular phases of a larger projects, with minimal supervision. Develops and creates detailed work plans, timelines and other appropriate documentation, identifies appropriate resources needed and provides timely status reports.
  • Provides assistance with system selection, system maintenance/upgrade and implementation, including system definition, build, testing and conversion planning and interfaces. 
  • Adheres to the department’s vendor relationship management strategy and intercompany communication.

Training

  • Participates and guides the maintenance of user documentation and training procedures.
  • Maintain documentation on application configuration and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Imparts information security policies to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills:  strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to critically think, problem solve, and work productively both independently and as a team participant. Skilled in active listening and proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Computer & Application Literacy: proficiency Microsoft Office suite, Atlassian tools, Electronic medical record systems, Smartsheets, Zoom, and other applications that facilitate donor management and corporate business needs.
  • Customer Service: Handles customer questions and complaints, provides appropriate solutions or alternatives. Follows up to ensure resolution.
  • Project Management Skills: demonstrated ability to organize, and manage projects, adapt to changing priorities, and utilize time-management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Data Analysis: ability to collect, analyze, and present data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships among variables.
  • Initiative:  Is a self-starter.  Seeks solutions and makes practical suggestions.  Finds new and better ways to perform job and functions.  Displays ingenuity in anticipating and meeting unexpected situations.
  • Workload Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to analyze highly complex situations with multiple variables and make sound recommendations
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle highly confidential information in a professional manner. High level of judgment and discretion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field, business, or information technology 
  • Three to five years supporting clinical application workflows
  • Project management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel & SharePoint)

Schedule details: this is a Hybrid position and will require onsite attendance to the Waltham office 2-3 days a week.
