New England Medical Group provides integrative health care and wellness services for mental health and substance use disorders. Our holistic approach seeks to bridge the gaps in services for people seeking medical and therapeutic support. We are currently seeking an Education Coordinator with a passion for helping adolescents with Mental Health Treatment working alongside our multi-disciplinary team at our location in Hingham, MA.
Position Overview: This role aims to assist students in sustaining their academic progress while undergoing intensive mental health treatment within the adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at New England Medical Group. The program caters to students between the ages of 12 and 18. This includes working with students, families, and home school districts to identify the most critical academic needs and develop individual plans to support those needs while they are in treatment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Education Coordinator will work with counselors and other internal staff to ensure treatment and educational plans are aligned.
Facilitating 1-3, 90-minute groups daily with a small groups of students.
Coordinate with home districts to receive essential work and support students to complete their work.
Provide recommendations for schools to support students in their efforts to maintain mental health improvements when they transition out of the treatment program.
This is an on-site Monday thru Friday full time position.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree- preferably in an education or related field of study
Ability to make learning fun and interactive, with the focus of the instruction often determined by student questions and comments
Currently certified teacher or a previous held teaching certification
Certification can be from any state
Comfortable working with students who might be struggling or one to two grade levels behind
Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable personality
Ability to personalize educational/remediation plans for each student
Knowledge of Massachusetts educational systems and ability to work closely with multiple districts and professionals to support students who are on medical leave from school.
Comfortable working with student groups of 5-10 students at a time.
Must be comfortable working with clients with various clinical presentations (ASD, mental health issues)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with students with Individualized Education Plans and 504 Plans.
Experience with advocating for the educational needs of students.
General understanding of the intersection between mental health and education.
