Position Summary:
The role of Painter I at New Flyer focuses on the application of various liquid coatings, including primers, single-stage topcoats, and base/clear systems. This position also involves a mentoring component, as Painter I employees are expected to train and guide Painter II colleagues, contributing to an upskilled and knowledgeable workforce within the Paint department.
What You Will Do:
• Perform all functions of a Painter I job independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced production environment.
• Proficient in spraying solid and high metallic colors to meet New Flyer standards.
• Understand and utilize equipment for surface preparation before painting applications.
• Read and interpret paint drawings to apply stencils or premask for stripes or other paint designs.
• Apply fine line tape for repairs or initial installations of paint striping.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of quality paint standards to ensure adherence to New Flyer benchmarks.
• Follow all painting safety policies and procedures rigorously.
• Capable of regularly lifting and moving up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and climb safely while working with ladders.
• Wear a respirator for up to eight hours as required.
• Maintain cleanliness in the work area, adhering to 5S and other lean principles.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Regular attendance is essential, ensuring you are at your workstation when the shift begins.
